Walking around
There are many unfinished dirt tracks, roads, uneven cobbles stones, take care not to trip. Suggest you wear suitable shoes, sandals, preferably with thicker soles if walking to or around the villages. Flips flops can be bought here in many of the shops.
If access to your accommodation via the road is dark, take a torch with you in evenings.
Lotions and Creams
Bring plenty of sun lotion and after sun lotion with you as creams are expensive in hotels. You should also bring mosquito repellant.
Drinking water
Drink plenty of bottled water (not tap), take bottled water if walking around the towns and villages.
Sunburn
Protect your skin as much as you can when out and about or sun bathing, even on cloudy days, as you will get sun burned if you are not careful. Hats and sunglasses are also a good idea.
Jewelry
Wear jewelry in your hotel. Cape Verde is not a rich country and many people have little. It is generally safe but there are occasionally opportunists. Do you really need to bring expensive jewelry on holiday to Cape Verde?
Clothing
You may wish to dress up for evening activities but general evening attire as worn in UK during summer nights is acceptable for most bars and
restaurants. If you have to visit somewhere official such as the Notory or Conservatorio, you should in most cases either wear trousers and a shirt
(men) - and dress, skirt and top or trousers and top (female)
