May O’Leary’s - Santa Maria
May O’Leary’s Irish Bar & Restaurant is one of the biggest bars in Cape Verde. It is now seeing a new lease of life. Niall Butler the new manager says “we are working on making May O’Leary’s the best venue on Sal. We’ve already had a great St.Patrick’s Day event, a few bookings for parties or other events.”
“We have been working on the menu; some of the meals have been changed while others have been introduced such as promotional snacks i.e. American hot dogs with a new takeaway service for pizza’s and other meals in the near future”.
The main thing is that the Bar can accommodate 200-300 people depending on the type of event. We also have a very large seating area outside the bar”.
“We have two chefs’, both excellent. We will have a full sea food menu and daytime/evening menu to suit everyone. A new pizza oven has been ordered. New meals will include Chinese and Mexican.
“There is a great choice in wines from South African, Chilean, Portuguese, Italian and some others. We have the biggest range of whiskeys on the island, currently 35 and this will be increasing to 60. There are currently 12 types of beers but another 4 will be added to the list shortly.”
“Our meals and drinks are at ‘Crisis Prices’ as we are aware of the financial difficulties affecting many tourists, locals and Expats”
